An Occupational Hygiene Monitoring Programme is the outcome of a Baseline Health Risk Assessment and is implemented to monitor all the Physical, Chemical and Biological Stressors that employees may be exposed to during a normal shift.
The Occupational Hygiene Monitoring Programme is a legal requirement under the Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as the Mine Health and Safety Act.
The frequency of monitoring is determined by guidelines issued by the Department of Employment and Labour, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy and the regulations contained in the respective Health and Safety Acts applicable to each operating environment as well as Industry Best Practice Guidelines, Risk Assessments and Codes of Practices.
